Description
DRAWING ICONOGRAPHIC HANDS – is designed for every level. No previous experience required.
The language of gesture (chironomia) is very important in iconography. Learning how to execute a hand in the iconographic style helps to convey the message of the icon. Iconographic hands direct the viewer’s eyes, heart and mind. Students will learn how to form the shape of a hand, with particular emphasis on proper proportion, drawing the blessing and presenting hand.
Students will learn not only how to draw the hand, but also how to paint the masses for each hand pose.
Step by Step Guidance. Students will receive a pdf instructional manual to supplement online instruction. Each assignment will be individually corrected with instructions to facilitate competence.
Offered via Zoom & recorded. While live participation is recommended, it is not necessary. Students are assigned homework to be submitted within a specific timeframe to allow digital corrections to be returned before the next class. Instruction is cumulative, so keeping up with class assignments is important.
