Year Round Semester Programs

Benefits of the Semester Program

Our 14 Week Semester Programs are optimal for individuals who appreciate a more in-depth experience extended over the time, affording learners opportunity to practice at home and progress at their own pace.  Students meet weekly and receive assignments to work on during the week at home.  If you live near Portland, this choice offers a relaxed pace on which to layer learning and experience, in the same way we gradually add layer upon layer of pigment to an icon.

Semester Online Programs

Our Online Byzantine Drawing Program is also offered in semester-long option and is especially well suited to be taught online.  The student’s view is identical to the instructor’s, as a document camera projects every line drawn less than 12” from the page.  Student homework is submitted and corrected electronically for personalized feedback.  This program is offered via zoom.

Week-Long Summer Programs

Benefits of the Intensive Summer Program

Our Summer Iconography Intensives are an excellent, full immersion approach offered in all day, week-long seminars yielding a fully finished icon in only one week.  This is a fast-paced but rewarding way to quickly cement the concepts without any time gaps in which information may be forgotten.  Perfect for planning a one-week iconography vacation/retreat.

Residential Summer Retreat

In 2023, Beginning Level I and Intermediate/Advanced level students seeking a week-long intensive will be offered a residential week to learn the sacred art of Iconography at Mt. Angel Abbey which affords a beautiful balance of Ora et Labora (prayer and work).  See our “Retreat” option under classes to register for this exceptional week July 30 – August 4, 2023.

Beginning Levels II & III will be offered in Portland in our new home at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
