SPRING DRAWING ICONOGRAPHIC HANDS MINI-CLASS – is designed for every level. No previous experience required.
The language of gesture (chironomia) is very important in iconography. Learning how to execute a hand in the iconographic style helps to convey the message of the icon. Iconographic hands direct the viewer’s eyes, heart and mind. Students will learn how to form the shape of a hand, with particular emphasis on proper proportion, drawing the blessing and presenting hand. (Students moving on to Beginning Level III in Fall 2023 will find this especially beneficial as you will learn how to draw and paint the blessing pose in the Pantocrator icon.)
Students will learn not only how to draw the hand, but also how to paint the masses for each hand pose.
