Description
PREREQUISITE: Beginning Iconography Level I HELPFUL; open to everyone.
INSTRUCTOR: Meet Alice Bolgova
OBJECTIVE:
Every element in an icon has meaning! This course instructs students on both the theology of and how to paint non-anatomical elements of icons focusing on landscape and architectural elements: specifically mountains, water, plants, architecture and furniture. Additionally, this course introduces or helps experienced iconographers to improve brush technique (lining strategies) and egg tempera techniques such as mixing pigment for base tones, layering and different background painting techniques. Finally, we’ll introduce basics of artistic composition and space organization in the icon to achieve balance, rhythm and contrast. Exercises will be executed on heavy watercolor paper instead of icon boards.
Includes step-by-step instruction manual and all required pigments.
