Description

BEGINNING ICONOGRAPHY LEVEL IV offers instruction on the icon of St. John the Baptist, (Forerunner) to complete the home altar Deisis of the Hagiosoritissa and Christ Pantocrator.  Students will acquire skills unique to St. John the Baptist and other desert fathers and mothers, including how to render the wild hair and beard that represent their difficult lives in the wild, as well as St. John the Baptist’s harsh camel hair shirt, and painting distressed facial features of an ascetic – all are distinct attributes of St. John the Baptist.

This class is open to students who have completed Beginning Iconography Levels I, II and III.
