Theme Depicted:  This commissioned icon theme was specified by the patron who had seen Our Lady of Alaska in a chapel for the Tlinget people in Alaska, based on the Theotokos and Child genre.  Both Mary and Christ are shown in native Tlinget clothing, in a traditional Hodegitria pose.
